Extra and Co-curricular Activities

The Study offers a highly selective set of extra and cocurricular activities, chosen to enhance the College's academic offerings. Extracurricular activities are designed to build confidence and organisational skills, while also allowing for the further artistic and social development of pupils in the final years of pre-university study.

The major co-curricular pursuit is debating and public speaking, and this is pursued through weekly assembly and tutor group activity. It is our belief that mastery of these communicaticve arts is a crucial part of preparation for university study, in addition to enhancing skills for a range of possible career paths. Additionally, each pupil is given weekly and termly responsibilities in connection with student life and while expectations are high in this regard, so too is the level of support available from tutors and fellow students in carrying these out. Those who excel in this area and who show particular leadership potential, are appointed prefects at the annual speech day and prize giving.

A very active and enterprising Interact Club involves a substantial proportion of the College's pupils, and offers wide-ranging opportunities for service and interaction both within the school community and beyond. This Club also provides opportunities for leadership for a number of pupils who will each year be appointed officers of the Club. The Interact Club, with its emphasis on service, provides an excellent forum for young leaders to use their skills to assist others, and so is ideally in keeping with the ethos of The Study.

Sport at the Study is aimed at relaxation and enjoyment for all, with the offerings varying according to demand. At the moment a six-a-side cricket team practices weekly and enjoys friendly matches with neighbouring schools.

Within the school premises, table tennis is a very popular activity enjoyed by girls and boys alike, fostering a spirit of friendly intraschool rivalry!
